Let's get started (and the method to the madness...)

What is this blog?  A financial blog where I try things out.  If I succeed or if I fail, I still post the results.  Hopefully through all of this, we can all learn together how to earn a little extra money (or a full-time job's worth of money) and not waste all of our time doing it (well, I might end up wasting my time a little, but I am a night owl so it might not be that terrible...).

Why this blog?  Two reasons.  I have an old van and I needed to fix it.  However, I could not justify spending family money to fix a van.  Also, I want to build an amphibious vehicle out of an old scooter and drive it across Sardis Lake.  What should I do?  Well, I needed to figure out a way to earn, save, multiply, increase, augment, (insert any other synonym you can think of) my spending money so I could fix the van, build an amphibious vehicle, and not miss, squander, waste, burn, (insert any other synonym your spouse, significant other, best friend would think of) that money for my family.

Who runs this blog?  My name is Thomas.  I am a teacher (which historically do not make too much in the salary column) that super enjoys his job.  If I can make someone love learning, I feel like I have succeeded.  What do I want for my students other than learning to love learning?  I want them to be successful citizens that can provide for themselves and help others.  In part, that is why I am making this blog.  To help others be more financially independent (or at least find out how not to be) and hopefully encourage them to help others in the process.

When is this blog updated?  Once a week, I will add things to this blog.  Some of the projects I will try out will have to run in the background as I do others because some might require more time and effort than others.

Where is this blog?  Well, right here.  I just added this to keep in line with the 5Ws and an H.

How is this blog?  Well, I hope it is great.  Please follow, subscribe, and share.  And of course comment on the things I do so we can keep it real in a world that so often isn't.

So what about the method to the madness?  Here are the steps:
  1. Find a blog or YouTube that tells me how to make money
  2. Try it for a week
  3. Report my findings on the blog
  4. Create a video of my findings in case people who would rather watch than read can get the info as well.
  5. Have a groovy metric that measures different aspects of the method to make money.  I will measure the following:
    • My experience
    • Real-life estimate of money & effort
    • Worth my time
    • At home factor
    • Tangible usefulness
    • YouTuber / Blogger Truthfulness
